Below is an article posted to the SCR website by Bekkah Hacket.
As a note, this is following the guidelines for the national review process. These are not rules that Harley or I made up, we just want to ensure as much consistency when you get a local review done, a regional review, and a national review, as possible. 1) Is the document in the correct format?o Is it in chronological order of when the prestige was earned? This will make it a hundred times easier for you in the long run. So, I do a sort by date when I am starting these to make sure everything is where it should be. o Is it in the current excel/open office format (you can find it http://camarilla.white-wolf.com/usnc/documents/PrestigeTemplate-5-10-01.xls). We can not accept older formats of the excel sheet, custom excel sheets, or the form on the CRD at this time. 2) Is there enough detail for someone who knows nothing about what you are doing to come to the same conclusion? While you may know that Bob donated a garbage bag full of clothes to Goodwill each month as a part of the Cam Clothing Drive, regional and national staff probably don’t. So “Donated Items to Goodwill – Part of Clothing Drive – 1 Garbage bag of clothes – 30G” is a perfect descriptor. If you put “Donated to Goodwill – 30 prestige” I don’t know whether he donated one sock or a truckload of things. I have to delete the award until we can get more information from the member, because clearly the single sock isn’t worth the same as the truckload. 3) Check Individual Awards – o Make Sure they are valid based on the prestige system used at the time. A single item, no matter how cool it is can not be worth more than 10 prestige (without an exceptional service award). It is great that you housed 1 million Cammies at your house after a game, but it either caps at 10 or 20 prestige (based on which prestige system it was under). HINT: One the national template, there are little tabs with all of the various prestige systems so you don’t have to look them up time and again. o Make Sure the Category is Correct. This will prevent things from being viewed as “over cap” when they truly are just in the wrong category. Only the first and second prestige systems (Up through the end of 1997) don’t have categories, everything after that does have categories and category maximums. o Is there correct documentation for each award? All Regional and National Prestige must be accompanied by either a link to the award (as a note, the prestige search site is not okay, we need you to actually click on each link to get the “actual” link site) or a report title. Since Regional and National Prestige must be awarded by a Regional or National Coordinator, providing me with the ST Report, doesn’t do anyone much good. If you can’t find regional prestige verifications, especially for items pre-2000, feel free to email Bekkah Hackett at scr.prestige@gmail.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . o Ordeals need “proof” too… Most of these you should be able to find either by doing a prestige search on the NC site (the NPO Ordeals - http://camarilla.white-wolf.com/usnc/prestige_light/search.php) or by the “Verify Ordeal” Choice under Ordeals Section on the NC Site (http://camarilla.white-wolf.com/usnc/ordeals/). o List Mod Prestige must come from Regional/National/Global – So all list moderator prestige items need a report title or a link. o Make sure it follows the guidelines of the FAQ’s and the MH. This will require some trial and error and learning as you go to know which items are addressed in the FAQ, but I have included some common questions at the bottom. Another item that is frequently overlooked is per Page 22 of the MH, “Only rarely should an officer be awarded the maximum allowable award for that position.” By the SCR Standards (and at this time National’s as well), this means no more than 3 times per year. If a Maximum award is given more than 3 times in 12 months, the additional “maximum” months are reduced to 10 less than the cap as this is considered a “standard” award 4) Check the Awards by Month – o Look at the month as a whole, make sure that each Prestige Category (Admin, Community Service) is within the Cap. It is wonderful that Bob donates to every charity known to man each month, but the Community Service Cap is 70. o Make sure there aren’t duplications of awards (or that someone who doesn’t know anything might see it as duplication of awards). If “Attended Domain Meeting” is listed twice without any more information, I will probably assume the member forgot they put it on there once and accidently re-entered it. But if it is listed as “Attended Domain Meeting x2 – 6/14 and 6/28” Then I will know the domain had 2 domain meetings and that the member didn’t “double enter” the prestige. 5) Making Changes - I am sure when you get a log from a member that you will probably have to make changes. It is extremely beneficial for the member (and yourself or your predecessor) for you to make detailed comments on your changes. Reference the report, the MH, the prestige guidelines, or an FAQ. This will help keep everyone on the same page. I suggest using the “Add Comment” box you can make by right clicking on the cell and then typing why you made the change. It also helps if you highlight the cells in a color so that people can easily find where the changes were made.
